Guelph YMCA Renovation Updates
Creating Inclusive and Accessible Spaces
We are undertaking a significant multi-stage renovation at the Guelph YMCA. With support from the Government of Canada Investing in Canada Infrastructure Project (ICIP) and the WC Wood Foundation, we will transform our Guelph location into a more inclusive space with a dedicated youth hub. As we complete these renovations, there may be some minor disruptions and program relocations. Updates will be posted to this page as they are available.
Project Timeline
This significant project will be tackled in phases to minimize disruption. We anticipate three phases in total and will communicate updates through the process.
Phase 1 — Complete
During the summer of 2024 the XYZ room, staff offices and children's Play Care room were renovated. Now there is a multi-purpose fitness studio that accommodates our licensed school-age child care in the evenings, a bright Play Care space for young children, a flexible classroom and studio space (used currently by Project Search during the day), and office spaces for staff.
Phase 2 — Started October 2024 expected completion Spring 2025
The office spaces, staff room and board room on the second floor have been converted to vibrant, multi-purpose youth-friendly spaces. The facilities are partially complete, pending some further installations in the kitchen. Fixtures and furnishings will be installed over the spring of 2025, and the spaces will be set up for fall programming in partnership with The Grove Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario. Interested members can arrange a guided tour of the space by contacting giving@ytr.ymca.ca.
Phase 3 — Started April 7, 2025
The third phase will convert the family changeroom on the main floor into a more inclusive and accessible universal changeroom, and modernize the reception area to better use the large lobby space. This phase is staged to minimize disruption, with the work on the changeroom happening first.
