Invest in Camp, Now and Always

For almost 100 years, YMCA camps have played an important role in family traditions. Families, like yours, who’ve experienced the joy and wonder of camp, built friendships, and made memories that last a lifetime. Your donation will help ensure YMCA camps are here for another 100 years. Help make sure that future generations of children have the opportunity to grow up connected with nature and feel like they belong to something special.

Our Community Need: Kids need camp now more than ever. Your donation provides safe, inclusive, and engaging outdoor experiences for campers to learn valuable skills and have unique opportunities to grow in mind, spirit, and body.

How We’re Responding: We are providing welcoming and comfortable cabins and facilities that serve as a home away from home for hundreds of children and youth. Furthermore, we are committed to ensuring that all campers can experience camp free from financial barriers.

With your support we can send over 1,000 kids to camp and build up-to-date cabins and attractions for campers to enjoy for years to come.

Leslie J. Cornwell Camp Leadership Award

Eighteen years ago, twins Andrew and Ryan Paulley were dropped off at Camp Ki-Wa-Y for their first day of camp. In 2022 they celebrated over a decade of camp leadership experience at Camp Ki-Wa-Y and Camp Belwood and their last summer as camp staff.

They have their mother, Leslie, to thank for sparking their interest in camp. She grew up in Winnipeg going to Y camps and eventually became a counsellor at YMCA Camp Stephens.

Sadly, Leslie passed away in May 2020 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

After much grief and reflection, Andrew and Ryan are determined to ensure their mother’s legacy and influence lives on. They are honouring her love of YMCA Camps by inspiring and supporting a generation of future camp leaders.

You are invited to join Andrew and Ryan’s vision by donating to the Leslie J. Cornwell Camp Leadership Award. This award is presented to three staff each summer who demonstrate an exemplary impact on their camp communities. Winners will be awarded $500 to help support their post-secondary pursuits.

We are grateful for each and every donation we receive. Thank you for all of your support.
