Well-being Matters
This page includes highlights about what actions are happening now, our hopes for the future and roles involved in this stream.
Well-being is not just about the absence of disease or illness. Holistic well-being is shaped by seven key dimensions (cultural, economic, emotional, environmental, intellectual, physical and social factors) collectively referred to as the seven determinates of well-being.
Well-being is strongly linked to happiness and life satisfaction. To care about someone's well-being at work means recognizing them as a whole person. It means looking beyond the work they do, and caring about who they are and how they are showing up.
What Evidence Tells Us
Our 2023 JAIDE Survey, Employee Insights Survey and feedback from our diverse communities demonstrated:

Representation matters.
20% of employees say the feel excluded a the YMCA of Three Rivers.

Belonging matters.
26% of employees do not actively feel as though they belong at the YMCA of Three Rivers.

Stopping harm matters.
22% of employees experience burnout often.
The Impact We Hope to Achieve
We will focus on boosting our people's well-being to create positive ripple effects across our communities. We will improve well-being in our spaces - individually and collectively.
By actively encouraging our people to focus on their well-being, our hopes are to reduce stress and burnout and increase capacity to monitor and promote their own well-being. When our people are aware of and supporting their own well-being they are able to be more engaged and empowered in their roles, have a greater sense of belonging, and in turn can better support the community.
