YMCA of Three Rivers Celebrates Grand Opening of Fitness Centre Expansion at Stork Family YMCA

Local MPP Catherine Fife attended the grand opening of the expanded fitness centre at Stork Family YMCA in Waterloo. The expanded space offers new fitness equipment thanks to a $200,000 Capital grant received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).


“Thank you to Ontario Trillium Foundation for this generous investment in our community's wellbeing,” said Catherine Fife, MPP for Waterloo. “The additional fitness area and new equipment at Stork Family YMCA will enable more people to make use of this welcoming, non judgemental exercise space. This community values the Stork Family YMCA, and it truly has become a welcoming space for all to enjoy. Above all, the $200,000 grant shows that OTF values the health of Ontarians.”


Serving approximately 2,800 members aged 13+, Stork Family YMCA in Waterloo provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive space where all members of our community can stay active and reach their health and wellness goals.


With a 4,500 square foot addition to Stork Family YMCA, we are maintaining and increasing fitness options with new equipment, supported by experienced staff to help with safe and effective use for people including those have added fitness equipment our fitness centre is receiving an overhaul that will help us to meet the needs of our community by expanding our exercise options to keep people engaged in a place where they feel they belong.


“This project reflects our commitment to creating spaces where everyone feels safe, included, and supported to reach their goals,” said Monique Yuhasz, VP of Health and Wellness. “Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we can provide more fitness options keep people engaged and moving.”
